Biography
Kayla got into CrossFit in February 2018 after being repeatedly encouraged by a friend to give CrossFit Sweat Mountain a try. Coming from a lengthy high-level soccer career, CrossFit was just the fit for the competition and intensity missing after (mostly) hanging up the cleats. She quickly found her new workout home at CrossFit Sweat Mountain and went “all in” so much so that she worked toward earning her Level 1 coaching certificate in July 2020.
Bringing a passion for helping others and a lifelong love of sports, Kayla loves the ability to meet athletes where they are and help encourage them to be their best. No matter what fitness level you may be at, Kayla will make you feel and know that you belong.
Witnessing someone reach a personal best on a lift and going head to head with other athletes to crush a WOD are some of the things she loves best about coaching and working out at CrossFit Sweat Mountain. She describes “the community that CrossFit Sweat Mountain fosters is like no other. We all work out TOGETHER.”
In addition to coaching and competing, she recently ran the Chicago Marathon and credits CrossFit’s constantly varied training for helping prepare her. You can typically find Kayla coaching or working out in the evening with some guest appearances in the morning, where she likes to remind you she’s “a coach first and a DJ second.”
